Willie Moore Jr, was born November 25th, 1932, to Willowby Moore and Bertha B. Glass, in Brevard, NC. He went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 11th, 2021. He was preceded in death by parents Willowby and Bertha Moore; sisters, Nina Moore, Beulah Hughley (Booker), Ruth Whiteside (Frank), Pauline Hunter (Clifton), Alice Charlton, and Sudie Moore; brothers John Moore and Harry Moore (Diane).
Willie lived a full life. After a lot of traveling, and residing in Michigan, Chicago, and a few other places, he ultimately chose to settle in Brevard, making Brevard his home, with his family. Willie was a professional cook of trade. He worked at various universities and colleges, camps, and fine restaurants. He loved sports and gardening. Our uncle was a joy. Willie definitely kept you laughing with his “tall tales,” and silly humor! He was very social and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
He is known fondly to everyone as “Uncle Willie.” Through the years he has received several names from his nieces and nephews, such as, “Uncle Slabs,” “Uncle Wolf,” “Chef Tale,” “The Uncle,” and “(Uncle)Will Will.” He was very generous and helpful. Uncle Willie was known to be quick-tempered occasionally. He is definitely the uncle that we have had the most laughs and fun with.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories, sisters, Josephine Charlton, Patricia Ann Mackey (Gale) and Diane Moore. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
