Tristan Dominic “Oak Tree” Taylor Sr, son of Clarissa (Jehad) Fi sabilillah and Scott (Melissa) Penland was born September 29, 1986 in Asheville, NC. Oak Tree was loved by many people in Asheville, a gentle giant that was a bit over-protective, as he had that protective aura about him. He loved his boys and He was his mama’s Jolly Brown Giant. He was a strong-minded, critical thinker, always working hard, no matter what the job was, he figured it out. He loved to cook and enjoyed watching his friends feast on his cooking. His smile illuminated the room, so if he was there, then you knew it!
Tristan is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lola Penland and Pink Leake and also his Aunt Cathy.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the life of his grandparents, Elizabeth (Clarence) Taylor; his sons, Rodrick, Tristan Jr., and Alijah; his girlfriend, Regina; ten sisters, Leondra, Chanel, Shelby, Jasmin, Shayla, Tiarea, Diamond, Alexis, Meka, and Tabriska; three brothers, Dameatric Assad (Latoya Nafia), Kieran, and Shi; three aunts, Cindy (Rick), Deborah (Craig), and Nikki; his uncle Lee (Lorraine); his cousins, Richard, Dixie, Jake, Lucas, Sylas and Delia; his good friends, Nancy, Lavie, Qussay, Shawn, and Philip (Renee); and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A public viewing for Tristan will be held from 11:45 am-1:45 pm on Friday, May 22, 2020 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. A private burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. In accordance with Buncombe County COVID-19 ordinance, only 50 people will be allowed in the facility at a time. and a mask or facial covering is strongly suggested.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in honor of Tristan be made directly to the funeral home to assist with services.
