Mr. Roosevelt Smith was born in Asheville, NC on March 12, 1956 to the late Dorothy Penland Smith. He attended South French Broad High School. He served in the United States Air Force as a Security Officer and was honorably discharged in 1975.
He was a former employee of Day International. He enjoyed working on cars, collecting antique cars, and attending car shows. He was a former member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he was proceeded in death by sister, Avery-Dean Penland.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jacqueline Smith of Asheville; two sons, Jermaine Mosley and Terje Mosley, both of Asheville; stepdaughter, Tracey Shaw-Mosley of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Imani Mosley; step-grandchildren, Tatiana Webb, and Tristan Bowie; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There will be a public viewing from 3:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2020 also in the chapel. Burial will follow the service at 2:00 pm at the WC State Veterans Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all attendees must wear a face covering and practice social distancing protocols.
