On March 7, 1948, a daughter was born to the late Arimenta Kershaw. On April 3, 2021, Patricia Gail Kershaw Anthony peacefully entered eternal rest. “Do not believe for a minute that I am dead, as I am more alive now than I have ever been.”
After graduation from Stephens-Lee High School in 1966, Patricia worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company as a Long-Distance Operator. In 1968, she moved to Washington, DC and continued to work for the telephone company. She attended the University of the District of Columbia and Strayer College. In 1969, Patricia joined the staff of American Psychiatric Association. After 38 years of service and traveling across the United States and Canada, she retired and returned to Asheville. She reunited with Varick Chapel AME Zion Church and was a diligent worker serving on the Trustee and the Stewardess Boards.
Tricia, as she was lovingly known, had a wonderful spirit and a passion for assisting those in need. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed working puzzles, reading, and was committed to her church, family, and friends. She was known to give her honest opinion even if it came with a little bite. Her wit and positive attitude will be missed.
Tricia was preceded in death by her mother, Arimenta Kershaw; grandmother, Clorena Fant Kershaw; aunt, Luvenia Kershaw Kirkland; brother, Willie “BaBa” Jones; sister, Mary Ann Knox.
Her life was a blessing and will be celebrated by Carolyn Baggs, Tommie and Jerald Kirkland, Karen Kershaw Kelly and Kerry Kershaw; sisters, Rita Warren and Tina Joyner (Darryl); brother, Donald Wayne Jones (Donna); devoted friend, Robert Miller; special niece, Sharon Burton; other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
