Mamie Lee Harrison Baker, 88, passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on Friday, December 30, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Asheville and the daughter of the late Tom and Carrie Harrison. Mamie attended the Asheville public schools.
Mamie was a kind, loving and compassionate person; always ready and willing to help anyone. She never waited for anyone to ask for help, if she saw help was needed. Mamie provided help right away. She was a hardworking, punctual, a no nonsense, and loyal person. And whatever she did, she put her whole heart into it.
Mamie's love and commitment to Christ was a guiding force in her life. She attended several churches in the Asheville area as she followed her husband in his pastoral ministry.
She supported her family and friends in whatever way they needed it and had a unique way of making each of them feel special. She will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Willie T. Baker, Sr.; son, Willie T. Baker, Jr.; daughter, Regina Baker; grandsons, Jeffrey Paul and Rufus Baker; sisters, Dorothy Clements and Hazel Haynes; brother, Norman Harrison, Sr.
