Katie Mae Miller Dixon, 95, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Mission Hospital. She was born October 4, 1926 in Fletcher, NC to the late John Wiley and Pearl Suber Adams.
Katie was a member of Fairmount Missionary Baptist Church and served as Chair of Hospitality and a member of the choir. She loved her family, her community and completing puzzles. Katie was famous for making and serving her “Lillie Dillie” ice treats to the children. She also served as a foster grandparent and a volunteer with the Asheville Police Department.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Joseph R. Dixon, Sr.; son, Joseph R. Dixon, Jr.; grandson, Curtis Jackson.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Dennis Dixon and Gregory Dixon, Sr.; daughter, Denise Gibson; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.
Public viewing will be from 1:00-6:00 pm Friday, March 11, 2022 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2022 also in the chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
