George Jones, age 85 departed from this Earth on December 25th, 2019 on interstate 26, in the mountains of North Carolina.
George was born on Feb. 3rd, 1934 the son of Virginia Jones of Marshall, North Carolina. George spent several years of his youth living in Gaffney, South Carolina with his dearly departed brother Bobby and his dad, attending High School there.
Upon returning to Asheville in the early 1950's George met and married Betty Louise Gash. Their union produced three sons; the late George D. Jones, Jr., a baby boy who only lived three days, and his only surviving son Drake Jones.
George's occupation was a big truck driver. 18 wheeler's. George worked exclusively for the Mayflower Moving company until his retirement at 65. His job enabled George to see the vast beauty of America known only to a few.
Although becoming quite a recluse George's large an loving family was always there for him.
Gorgeous George was a notorious ladies man and maintained half century long and better relationships with several paramours.
Also preceding George in death were his beloved sister Geneva Jones Conley.
George leaves to cherish his memories his sister Emma Kate Hooper of Marion North Carolina, at least 5 grandsons, at least 2 granddaughters, at least 9 great grandsons and at least 2 great granddaughters. Cherishing his memory is also:
Five nieces; Anna Staton of Marion North Carolina, Carita Webb of Asheville, North Carolina, Virginia Sibert (Frank) Asheville, North Carolina, Denise Hamilton of Rutherfordton, North Carolina and Rita Poore of Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Four nephews: Gene Hooper of Forest City North Carolina, Randy Hooper and Jeffrey Hooper of Marion North Carolina and David Conley of Charlotte North Carolina.
George leaves in his memory a multitude of cousins, lifelong friends and others.
George has now passed through that door we all must walk through. He is now able to see the true awesomeness of the one true God, the Creator of all. None can escape this reality. May his deeds on this earth cause George to rest in peace.
