Errol Wayne Morgan, 62, affectionately known as Earl to friends and to others as "Punchie Belly", got his heavenly wings on Friday, July 17, 2020. He was born in Asheville on April 25, 1958 to Annie Mae Morgan and honorary father, James Copeland, Jr. Errol attended Asheville High School where he graduated with the class of 1977. He then joined the United States Army where he served his country with great pride as a military police officer.
Errol was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Sarah Morgan; aunts and uncles, Alberta and Cameron Weston, Lessie Bell and McArthur Williams, Betty and Ernest Boyd; Sylvia Kilgore; son, Roy Lee lacy, Jr. and his precious daughter, Mecca Morgan Saunders.
Family left to cherish his memory include Ethel Mae Lacy; sons, Errol Kilgore of Chicago, IL, John Lacy of Lithonia, GA and Lamar Battle of Stone Mountain, GA; daughter, Donyelle Brooks (Michael, Sr.) of Decatur, GA; children of his heart, Nakia, LaChrisa and Monique Kilgore of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Joshua Saunders, Cydne and Michael Brooks, Jr.; mother, Annie Mae Morgan of Asheville, NC; sisters, Willie Mae Hamilton (Stanley) of Detroit, MI, Earlene Morgan of Asheville, NC; brothers, Derrick Morgan, Dennis Morgan and David Battle of Asheville, NC; aunts and uncles, Barbara Hunter, Charles and Claudia Tucker, Charles and Betty Morgan and Clarence and Marshe Morgan; sisters-in-law, Elmira Blue, Edith Jones, Deronia Thompson and Sandra Jones; brothers-in-law, David Blue, Curtis Jones (LaKennya), Billy Jones (Evelyn) and Marcus Jones; Hazel Jones; several nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Donald Trimble Mortuary, Decatur Ga.
A celebration of life memorial service will be 12:00 PM, Saturday, August 8, 2020 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. The service will be available via live stream here on the website for local and Georgia family and friends.
