Dwight Flack

December 12, 1953 ~ April 5, 2020 (age 66)

Obituary

Dwight LaVon “Solo 1” Flack, 66, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 5, 2020. Dwight was born on December 12, 1953 at the Asheville Colored Hospital to the late LeVinard Flack, Jr., and Dorothy Jean Simpkins Flack.

Dwight was a native of Asheville. He attended Asheville City Schools, however, spent his formative years (1958-1969) in Washington, D.C. He returned to Asheville from 1969-1975. He also lived and worked with his Uncle Lee Collins in New York City from 1976-1986. Dwight then moved to the Atlanta Metro Area, visiting his nephew, Anthony, and became enamored with the Chocolate City vibe and decided to make Atlanta his home.

Dwight was a gregarious person and a friend to almost anyone he met. His broad, welcoming smile could brighten your day. Family and friends knew him as an extremely affectionate man and a serious old school conversationalist. He loved music, sports, dancing and was a fashionable dresser. But most of all he loved the Lord.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory is daughter, Kisha Harrington; granddaughter, Dominique Johnson; great-granddaughter, Riyan Johnson, all of Washington, D.C. ; brother, Derrick Flack of Asheville, NC; sisters, Debra Flack-Weaver of Asheville NC, Tonderlier Bowen (Gregory) of Lanham, MD, Deneatria Flack of Greenville, SC, Dureda Flack-Webb (Kendrick) of Lansing, MI; other beloved family members including Betty S. Collins (Lee) of Hempstead, NY, Terry C. Reyes (Ricardo) of Charlotte, NC, Karen J. Smith of Asheville, NC; nephew and comrade in arms, Anthony Flack and special friend Shnita James both of Atlanta, GA.
