Cleve White Jr. passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He was born on May 22, 1946 to the late Brenda Gadson and Cleve White, Sr. in Asheville, NC and raised by his late grandmother Britey Johnson.
Cleve graduated from Stephens Lee High School in the Class of 1964 and attended North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. Following college, he relocated to New York City and then to Washington, DC where he spent many years working as a counselor serving individuals with drug addiction at Saint Elizabeths. Cleve was an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Washington, DC. He was involved with their Men’s Most program and active in numerous community projects sponsored by the church. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys football fan, and he loved playing the drums in his spare time.
Left to cherish his memory are daughter Prather Smith; grandchildren Brandon McClain, Shyla Hiland, and Desiree McClain; one great-grandson Timothy Hiland and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 10, 2020 in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service. There will be a public viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Violet Hill Cemetery. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed for the service and the viewing,
