On Sunday, January 12, 2020, Bathsheba Patterson, loving mother of two and grandmother of six passed away at the age of sixty-seven surrounded by her family.
Bathsheba was born on May 1st, 1952 in Asheville, NC to Clark D. Patterson and Lila Mae Grant and had five siblings: Nancy G. Mosely Bonney, Clark D. Patterson, Jr., Zachary Patterson, Nafessah Baheejah Howard, and Stephanie Mae Patterson. She graduated from Asheville High School and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Stillman College.
Ms. Patterson lived in Tuscaloosa for over forty years, while she often enjoyed musicals, concerts, and time with her friends she had a unique fondness for traveling, interior design, and horticulture. Her love for her flowers and garden was infectious, she often started and ended everyday tending to her flowers (beauties). Ms. Patterson served as an auditor for GM for over 30 years, but her true passion was Interior Design. Her home was often described as walking through Kirkland’s, filled with bold colors, artifacts from her travels throughout the world, and lined with professional photographs of her loved ones. She loved having precious intimate moments captured by photography, therefore with having six grandchildren every moment with them was deserving of a picture. Her grandchildren were the source of great pride and joy, always present for events whether dance recitals, swim meets, robotics competitions, basketball games, or gymnastics meets she was in attendance with a smile and camera.
After retirement, Ms. Patterson returned home to Asheville, NC where she enjoyed serving as a full-time pioneer, volunteering her time to assist with the construction of Kingdom Hall’s throughout the United States and enjoying time with her family and friends.
Ms. Patterson was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clark and Lila Patterson; her sister, Nancy G. Mosely Bonney; brothers, Clark D. Patterson Jr. and Zachary Patterson. She is survived by her two children, Shanna M. Smith and Justin Tyme Taggart; six grandchildren, Tymirra D. Smith, Quincy E. Smith, Shaneese A. Smith, Landon Marshall, Zoey C. Taggart, and Peyton C. Taggart.
