Ronald Foster was born March 25, 1954 to the late Betty J. Foster. He graduated from Asheville High School, Class of 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Johnson C. Smith University and a master’s degree in Sociology from Winston Salem State University. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Pi Fraternity. He was a Supervisor at Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company in Asheville. Additionally, he worked at the Goldsboro Correctional Center with the DART Program, and with the United States Postal Service in Raleigh, NC. Ronald was a member of the Northeast Seventh Day Adventist Church in Charlotte. He was a volunteer with the WNC Urban Ministry for Men and the Salvation Army.
Ronald enjoyed reading, community services, spending time with his daughter, grandchildren and family, attending Sunday School, and playing the NC Educational Lottery.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve (Sweat) Foster and Grandmother, Sophie Foster.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Jacqueline M (Jackie) Broadwater; God-daughter, Tosha M. Broadwater; God-son, Antwan A. Broadwater; grandson, Jair J. Matthews; granddaughters, Sydni E. Broadwater-Garcia, India I. Matthews; brothers, Troy Foster (Debbie) of Nashville, TN, Ralph Foster (Vanessa) of Gastonia, NC, Derrick Foster (Mae Simuel) of Asheville, NC; sister, Detria Greene of Spartanburg, SC; beloved cousin, Aretha Foster of Charlotte, NC; special Aunt, Cathy Foster Durant (Roy) of Asheville, NC; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
