Mr. Jerome Gilbeaux, 70, of Arden, N.C. was born July 28, 1949 in Asheville, N.C. to the late Elijah and Susie A. Gilbeaux. He was the last of nine children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Betty Jean Freeland, Gwendolyn Gilbeaux, Ann Y. Bryant, and one brother: Nathaniel Freeland.
Mr. Gilbeaux was raised in Asheville, where he attended grade and high school. He was a graduate of South French Broad High School, class of 1967. He also attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, N.C. and graduated with a Bachelor of Science- Mechanical Engineering in 1973.
Following graduation from 1974 to 1979 he worked as an engineer. In 1979, he became a distributer of Dudley Products. From 1980 to 1985 he worked with Dudley in Chicago, IL and New York, NY. In 1986, he made the decision to move back to Arden to continue servicing the western North Carolina area.
In 1988, he began building homes in Asheville, N.C.
He loved landscaping, building houses, encouraging people, reading his bible, and spending time with family and friends.
Mr. Gilbeaux is survived by his life partner Saundra A. Conley, two sons: Maurice L. Hood of Greensboro, N.C. Samuel J. Gilbeaux of Greensboro, N.C.; five daughters: Torri J. (Robert) Barker of Clarksville, T.N. Elizabeth S. Gilbeaux of Greensboro, N.C. Susie A. Gilbeaux of Greenwood, S.C. Eunice D. Gilbeaux of Charlotte, N.C. Naomi L. Gilbeaux of Charlotte, N.C. three sisters: Charlie Mae Brown (Elliott) of Winston Salem, N.C. Vennie Gilbeaux of Arden, N.C. Delia M. Robinson of Asheville, N.C.; two brothers: James A. Freeland and Willie (Joan) Freeland both of Asheville, N.C.; 4 grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
