Dorothy Salters Dean, 90, of 208 London Road, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 30, 2019. She was a native of Spartanburg, SC, where she was born on December 10, 1928, to the late Russel and Annie Brownie Salters. She was married to Willie Dean who passed away several years ago.
Dorothy was educated at Stephens-Lee High School in Asheville, NC. She was employed at American Enka for five years. Dorothy attended a NC Beautician’s School and became a beautician for 35 years until her health began to fail.
Dorothy was sixteen when she became a faithful member of Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Dean and continued under Rev. Dr. Charles R. Mosely Sr. She was a member of the choir and served on the food committee.
Left to cherish her memory are her two devoted sons, Robert Lee Salters of New Jersey and Richard Neil Salters of Asheville, NC; stepson, Tony Chiles of New Jersey; 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, and church family.
